Minerals are used in so many ways throughout society – from simple buildings to complex, advanced electronics – making our lives more livable or enjoyable. But consumption of minerals requires us to extract them – from the ground, or the bottom of the ocean, or from recycling. What is better? What impacts do the different alternatives have across the supply chain? Can our known resources support policies for sustainable societies like clean energy technologies? These are the types of questions needing to be answered.
