We are attractive by the wild beauty, delicious foods, friendliness and artist of the people here. The shops are boldly worn by owners, as they themselves decorate their salons and especially there are numerous handmade souvenirs.
Come and enjoy!
Like us, you would love this beloved city!
The first day, our first destination is Former Uryu Family House. It’s famous as the oldest structure in the Fukui prefecture nationwide and is the national designated cultural property as a private house which exists. 15 minutes by bus then we arrived to Manabe Museum where the history of Sabae-shi can be learned. Here we can find artifacts from the city remains and valuable archaeology materials. After a long day, but very interesting, we relaxed at Rapoze Kawada’s hot spring before enjoying very delicious foods and drinks that were prepared by local people.
In the second day, after a light meal in the morning, we spent wonderful time learning Echizen Lacquerware. We can choose materials such as bowls, cups, mirrors, frames, etc. and paint it with a paintbrush by direct guidance from a local craftsman. At 16.00, we gathered to other teams participating the Mochi-maki event at Shikiyama shrine. This is where loads of mochi (pounded rice treats) is thrown and scattered over crowds of people who scramble to get as much as possible. Luckily, three members of us got 3 big ones.
After the festival, we said “Thanks” to the nice local people who hosted us during 2 wonderful days and say “Goodbye” the beautiful city, Sabae.
We will be back in the near future!
